Private House | Neve Tzedek
A private house in the heart of Neve Tzedek underwent a complete renovation for a couple of art collectors. The starting point for the design was to make the art collection an integral part of everyday life, while maintaining a balance between the presence of the artworks and the intimate, residential character of the home.
The art was incorporated into the design process from the earliest stages. Each work was considered in relation to its intended setting, in terms of scale, composition, materiality and its relationship to the architecture. Wall locations, niches and hanging positions were planned accordingly, ensuring that each piece had the space and conditions needed to be presented at its best.
Lighting was designed as an integral part of the art curation. The lighting scheme was carefully tailored to highlight each work, taking into account natural light, the materials and character of the artwork, while maintaining the warm atmosphere of the home.
The relationship between the house and the collection continues into the generous garden. Alongside the planting and outdoor living areas, sculptures and other artworks were carefully integrated into the landscape, extending the collection beyond the walls of the house.
The result is a home where art and design exist in continuous dialogue, the architecture provides a considered setting for the collection, while the artworks give the home its character, color and personal story.
