Apartment

Interior design and renovation of an apartment in the city center, originally without a balcony. As part of the project, a new outdoor space was created by reallocating part of the apartment’s interior area. This intervention transformed the character of the home, introducing more light, air, and openness, while strengthening its connection to the urban surroundings.

Creating a balcony in an urban apartment introduces an outdoor space that is difficult to achieve within the interior alone, a place to sit, entertain, grow plants, or simply step outside and take a moment away from the city.

The planning challenge was to create the new outdoor space without compromising the functionality of the apartment. The interior layout was reconsidered to establish a natural connection between the living area and the balcony while making efficient use of the available space. Openings, materials, lighting, and planting were designed together to soften the boundary between indoors and outdoors.

The project demonstrates how thoughtful interior planning can transform the experience of living in an apartment without a balcony, converting existing floor area into a meaningful outdoor space, a balcony created almost from scratch that has become an integral part of everyday life in the home.

The project was featured as part of the *Open House Tel Aviv* event.
