Penthouse

A 140 sqm apartment in Givatayim underwent a complete renovation for a couple and their two children. The original layout, designed for older residents, no longer suited the family’s contemporary lifestyle, which combines family life, working from home and frequent entertaining.

The new design focused on creating an open living area with a strong connection to the outdoors. A generous kitchen opens onto the living room and balcony, alongside ample storage, a shared workspace for the couple, and a clearer separation between the parents’ and children’s areas.

One of the main challenges was that the apartment had no balcony at all. Having previously lived in an apartment with a large private rooftop, the family wanted to retain a strong connection to the outdoors and create generous spaces for entertaining. The solution was to introduce three new balconies, each designed for a different purpose.

The main balcony, directly connected to the kitchen, features a continuous natural-stone bench designed for seating and entertaining. A steel railing incorporating built-in planters allows tall planting to create privacy and soften the transition between the home and its surroundings.

The design language is based on a light, soft color palette and natural materials, creating a calm atmosphere while drawing the outdoors into the home and highlighting the views from throughout the apartment.
