46 sqm Apartment

How do you create a comfortable, inviting and functional three-room apartment within just 46 sqm? This was the central challenge in designing an apartment on a quiet lane leading off Gan Meir, for a couple of musicians who wanted to incorporate a dedicated music room separate from the bedroom, for playing, recording and editing.

The limited footprint required meticulous planning down to the centimeter. The kitchen was designed around the building’s angled walls, with stepped cabinetry providing generous storage without overwhelming the space. The refrigerator was seamlessly integrated at the beginning of the hallway, extending the kitchen into the circulation area while making efficient use of the available space.

The original separate bathroom and toilet were combined into a single, more spacious and comfortable room. Custom cabinetry was designed to maximize storage, while the music room was planned around the couple’s needs, with dedicated space for their instruments and an environment suited to recording and creative work.

The apartment underwent a comprehensive renovation, including the removal of most of the existing interior, a complete reconfiguration of the layout, and the replacement of all electrical, plumbing and air-conditioning systems. Unique pieces belonging to the couple were incorporated into the new design, adding a personal layer to the home.

The result is a compact yet complete apartment, where every square meter has been carefully considered to create a comfortable setting for living, working and making music.
