Shadmi House

A 94 sqm four-room apartment in a quiet street in central Tel Aviv was reconfigured into a five-room home for a family of five. The challenge was to create a private room for each of the three children while preserving a sense of openness and spaciousness throughout the apartment.

Designing small and challenging urban apartments, where every square meter matters, has been a significant part of my professional practice. This time, I was my own client. An intimate knowledge of the apartment allowed me to examine every wall, passage and corner, and refine the layout down to the smallest detail.

The renovation focused on precision and the optimal use of space. Walls were shifted by just a few centimeters, the layout was carefully reworked, and furniture was designed and made to exact dimensions. At the same time, much-loved pieces collected over the years, artwork, design objects and prints were preserved and integrated naturally into the new home.
